No. 5. New Zealand, No. 59. Sir, — Government House, Wellington, 10th February, 1917. 1 have the honour to inform you that, in reply to your predecessor's despatch, No. 876, of the 3rd November last, relative to the question of the principles to be observed in connection with the remuneration of officers of oversea Prize Courts, my Ministers state that the matter has been fully considered, and that it is not proposed to pay any fees or remuneration to officers in New Zealand in connection with Prize Court proceedings. I have, &c, LIVERPOOL, The Right Hon. Walter 11. Long, M.P., Governor Secretary of State for the Colonies.

No 6. New Zealand, No. 65. SIR,— Government House, Wellington, 13th February, 1917. I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Bonar Law's despatch, No. 945, of the 30th November last, forwarding the audited accounts of the Pacific Cable Board for the year 1915-16. 2. My Government are gratified to observe that the statement shows a surplus of revenue over expenditure, more especially as from its inception New Zealand used all her influence in support of the Pacific cable scheme. T have, &c, LIVERPOOL, The Right Hon. Walter li. Long, M.P., Governor. Secretary of State for the Colonies.
