1916. NEW ZEALAND.

GRADUATED LAND-TAX PAID ON URBAN AND RURAL LAND FOR THE YEARS 1913-14 AND 1914-15 (RETURN SHOWING THE AMOUNT OF).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 21st July, 1915. Ordered, "That there be laid before this House a return showing, for the two financial years ending on the 31st Maroh, 1914 and 1915—(1) The proportion of revenue received from graduated land-tax derived from taxes on (a) urban land and (6) rural land ; and (2) the proportion of inorease in revenue reoeived from graduated landtax derived from taxes on (a) urban land ana (b) rural lana."—(Mr. Myers.)

Beturn. The amount of graduated land-tax paid on urban and rural land for the years 1913-14 and 1914-15 was— 1913-14—Urban land, £83,101 ; rural land, £177,943. 1914-15—Urban land, £80,121; rural land, £171,561. There was an increase over the amounts of graduated land-tax collected on urban land for the years 1913-14 and 1914-15 compared with 1912-13 of £11,910 and £8,930 respectively, and a decrease in the amounts of graduated land-tax collected on rural land for the years 1913-14 and 1914-15 compared with 1912-13 of £2,141 and £8,523 respectively.
