ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 23rd Day of July, 1930. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall be referred all matters relating to labour ; with power to call for papers and persons ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Clinkard, Mr. Endean, Mr. Linklater, Mr. Lysnar, Mr. McKeen, Mr. Munns, Mr. Poison, the Hon. Mr. Veitch, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Smith.) Wednesday, the 13th Day of August, 1930. Ordered, " That the Apprentices Amendment Bill be referred to the Labour Bills Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Smith.) REPORTS. Apprentices Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 29th September, 1930.
Scaffolding and Excavation Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 29th September, 1930.
Shearers' Accommodation Amendment Bill. I am directed to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that the Bill be reported without amendment, together with the following resolution : — That, in view of the Minister's assurance given to the Committee that he intends to look into the complaints tendered in evidence given before the Committee, and also that he will give consideration to all matters contained in the Bill, and in view also of the fact that the Bill contains an appropriation, the Committee recommends that the Bill be not proceeded with during the present session. 29th September, 19.30.
Workers' Annual Leave Bill. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that, as the Bill involves a question of policy, it be referred to the Government for consideration ; and that the Bill be not proceeded with this session. 25th October, 1930.
Motor-cabs Bill. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that the Bill be not proceeded with this session. 25th October, 1930.
Painters and Decorators' Health Protection Bill. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that the Bill be not proceeded with this session. 25th October, 1930.
Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the abovementioned Bill, and recommends that, —- In view of the financial stringency of the Dominion the Committee recommends that the Bill be deferred, and that it be not proceeded with this session. 25th October, 1930.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the members of the Labour Bills Committee desire to express their appreciation of the manner in which Mr. Gr. C. Munns, as Chairman of the Committee, has carried out his duties, and that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and also that it be reported to the House. 25th October, 1930. Special Report. I have the honour to report that at the final meeting of the Labour Bills Committee held on Tuesday, the 21st day of October, the following resolution was agreed to, namely : — That the Committee have much pleasure in stating that Mr. L. C. Dawe, Clerk of the Committee, has carried out his duties in an entirely satisfactory manner, and that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and also that it be reported to the House. 25th October, 1930.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee consisting ol ten members, has during the session held twelve meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of six members. Seven Bills were referred to the Committee, all of which have been reported to the House. 25th October, 1930. G. C. Munns, Chairman.
