STATE FOREST LANDS IN SOUTHLAND (DESCRIPTION OF), PROPOSED TO BE WITHDRAWN.
Laid on the Tabic in pursuance of Section 2 of "The Neiv Zealand State Forests Acts Amendment Act, 1888."
Description of Land proposed to be withdrawn feom Foeest Pbesebvation Reseeves. Ale that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land District, containing 13,250 acres, more or less, situated in the Hokonui and Forest Hill District. Bounded as follows : Commencing at the south-eastern angle of Section No. 333, Hokonui District; thence by a straight line to the northeastern angle of Section No. 326 of said district; thence along the eastern boundary of said Section No. 326 to the northern boundary of Forest Hill District; thence due east to a point due north of the most easterly angle of Section No. 177, Forest Hill District; thence due south to a point due west of the north-western angle of Section No. 169 of said district; thence due east along the northen boundary of said Section No. 169 to Waterworks Reserve; thence by the western boundary of said reserve continued northward to north boundary of Forest Hill District; thence due west along said boundary, 54 chains; thence by straight line to north-western angle of Section No. 293, Hokonui District; thence by a straight line running 122 chains, bearing 207°; and thence by a line running 184 chains, bearing 317°; thence by a straight line to starting-point. (This description copied from Gazette, 1881, page 671.) Also, all that other piece or parcel of land containing 9,800 acres, more or less, situated in Waimumu Survey Hundred. Bounded by the following lines : Commencing at the south-western corner of Section No. 32, Waimumu Hundred; thence by a line to south-west corner of Section No. 23 of said hundred ; thence along the south-western boundary of said section to a point due north of the western boundary of Section No. 4a ; thence due south to the north-west corner of Section No. 4a ; thence by last-mentioned line, continued and forming the west boundary of said Section No. 4a to the northern boundary of Lindhurst Hundred; thence along the northern boundary of Lindhurst Hundred, 280 chains; thence by a line running due north, 393 chains; thence by a line running due east to Section No. 32, 94 chains; and thence along the west boundary of last-mentioned section to the starting-point, 6 chains. (This description taken from Gazette, 1881, page 671.) Also, all that other piece or parcel of land containing 2,400 acres, more or less, situated in the Forest Hill and Winton Hundreds. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 277, Forest Hill Hundred; towards the east by Sections Nos. 107, 10, 32, 22, and 29; thence by a line to the north-western corner of Section No. 42 ; thence by a line running due south to southern boundary of Winton Hundred, continued eastward; thence due west to Section No. 44, Block 11., Winton Hundred; thence along the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 44, 45, and 46, also along the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 49 to 57 inclusive ; and thereafter along the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 32 and 31, Block 111., of said hundred, to starting-point. The foregoing lands not being required for climatic purposes, and as the blocks contain timber suitable for milling purposes, it is proposed to issue saw-mill licenses.
