Presented to loth Houses of the General Assembly in pzirsuanee of Section 148 of " The Land Act, 1877."

Changing Pxtepose of Portion of a Eeseete in Canterbtjet:. General Crown Lands Office, Wellington, 10th October, 1881. It is hereby notified that His Excellency tho Administrator of the Government intends, under the provisions of' section 148 of " The Land Act, 1877," to change the specific purpose of the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, for which the land was heretofore set apart as a reserve, as specified in the first column of the said Schedule, to the specific purposes specified in the third column of the said Schedule.

It is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor intends, under the provisions of section 148 of " The Land Act, 1877," to change the specific purpose of the land described in the second column of the Schedule hereto, for which the land was heretofore set apart as a reserve, as specified in the first column of the said Schedule, to the specific purpose specified in the third column of the said schedule.

Description and Purpose of Reserve. Area of which the Purpose is intended to be Changed. Intended Purpose. Section No. 702 (in red), 930 ,cres, in the Christchurch District, Provincial District of Canterbury. ?or a rifle range. All those two several parcels of land in the Eolleston Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, numbered as under on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch: — 10 acres, more or less. Bounded—■ Northward by Bealey'sBoad, 10 chains ; Westward by a line at right angles thereto, 10 chains; Eastward by the road west of Section No. 2919; and Southward by a line parallel to the northern boundary: and numbered 2530 (in red). 10 acres, more or less. Bounded — Northward by the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 4910, 11 chains ; Westward by the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 4364; Southward by a line parallel to the northern boundary; and Eastward by a line at right angles thereto, 10 chains : and numbered 2531 (in red). All that parcel of land in the Eangiora Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 91 acres, more or less. Bounded —North-eastward and Eastward by the road north of Section No. 6090 and the Eyre Main Drain Reserve; Eastward by Section No. 6482; South-eastward and Southward by Sections Nos. 3685 and 5707 ; and Southwestward and Westward by Section No. 5635, and the continuation of the southwestern boundary-line thereof to the northern bank of the Eiver Eyre, and by Section No. 6090: and numbered 380 (in red) on the official map in the Survey Office, Christchurch. For the improvement and protection of the banks of the Eiver Eyre, and for other purposes in connection with the overflow of the said river.
