NO RACE FOR HONGKONG
CHINESE DISCOUNT REPORTS (Received Aug. 20, 1 p.ra.) LONDON, Aug. 19 Chinese diplomatic circles in London state that no credence is to be attached to reports of a race between Chinese and British forces for Hongkong. China does not intend to seize any Allied territory but will seek settlement of all questions affecting her interests by negotiation. Relations between China and Britain remain of the friendliest.
