Bales of Wool for Unrra Two bales of wool worth about £SO are to be sent from New Zealand Women’s Institutes for distribution by U.N.R.R.A. in Europe. This was decided at a recent meeting of the Dominion Council of Women’s Institutes held in Wellington. Danger From Radiators
The matter of having radiators manufactured of a type suitable for homes where there were young children was discussed at the recent Wellington provincial conference of the Plunket Society. It was pointed out by some delegates that in most radiators there was no guard to prevent children throwing things in or putting their hands on the elements. It was considered that if radiators were made with some sort of protection on them many accidents could be avoided. Attention was also drawn to the unsatisfactpriness of cheap materials in connections and to. the danger of placing plugs low on the wall. In one case quoted, a child had pushed a steel knitting pin into the wall socket and had received a fatal shock
