OVATION GIVEN
MR CHURCHILL AT THEATRE LONDON, Aug. 15 Piccadilly Circus was the focal point of rejoicing in the capital. Men and women from almost every Allied nation sang and danced. In the East End scores of bonfires turned night into day in narrow side streets with their blitzed and bombscarred homes.
As on V-E night, the Princesses, escorted by two plainclothes police officers, came out and mingled wil\ the crowds and watched their parents appear on the balcony for the fifth time just before 10 p.m. One of the greatest ovations was given to Mr Churchill, who attended a theatre, sitting in the stalls. When he entered the theatre there was tumultuous applause, and the second act of the play was delayed when Mr Church.\l was welcomed at the foyer during the interval. Crowds waited outsid\ the theatre after the show to cheer him as he came out and entered his car. He gave the V sign.
