RETURNED SOLDIER KILLED HUNTLY, Friday

While walking across the main street of Huntly at about 6.30 last night a man was knocked over by a motor-car and so seriously injured that he died soon afterward. The victim of the accident was

Mr Neil Victor Carlson, aged 35, single, employed as a miner and labourer, of Great South Road, Huntly.

The fatality occurred almost opposite the Huntly Town Hall. Mr Carlson apparently did not see the vehicle. He was an ex-serviceman, having returned from the Middle East 18 months ago.
