OBITUARY

MR THOMAS BARFORD The death has occurred of ‘Mr Thomas Barford, of Matamata, at the age of 85. Mr Barford, who was an old resident of the Waikato, was born at Northampton, England, and came to ‘New Zealand in the “ Tongariro ” 60 years ago. He farmed at Ngaruawahia and Te Kowhai until 20 years ago, when he came to Hamilton, later moving to Matamata. Mr Barford was a keen horticulturist and for many years was the superintendent of the gardening section of the Waikato Winter Show, as well as* being a member of the committee from its inception. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs C. Beckett (Auckland) and Miss’ Violet Barford (Matamata), and three sons, Messrs Herbert J. Barford (Morrinsville), G. Barford (Te Aroha) and Harry J. Barford (Te Poi).
