TREMENDOUS DAMAGE
ATTACKS BY FLYING BOMBS LONDON, Oct. 29 The Minister of Health, Mr H. U. Willink, in the House of Commons, gave an indication of the damage suffered by London during the flying-bomb raids. He said that up to September 12, 24,000 houses had been destroyed or damaged beyond repair and there had been 1,100,000 incidents of damage. The total loss of houses was 109,000 in the London region and, as at September 22, it was estimated that there were 800,000 houses in need of repair to make them reasonably comfortable. The Minister estimated that there was between £30,000,000 and £35,000,000 -worth of work to be done.
