A successful meeting of the Ham- j Ilton branch of the New Zealand j ! Home Servicemen’s Association was j | held on Thursday night. The presi- 1 1 dent, Mr Colin Taylor, presided over , an attendance of 60. Mr Taylor esti- I mated that there were probably 450 men and women in and near Hamilton who were eligible for membership, and so far only 150 had been enrolled. Ways and means of increasing I membership and stimulating interest I in the movement were discussed and a special social commitee consisting ; of Messrs J. H. Searle, A. C. Doolan, j S. Strang, J. C. Were, F. E. Wilson, G. j Walker, A. A. McLean, A. Redfern, j E. Hayward and T. R. Beagle was elected to promote meetings and entertainments. It was decided to hold monthly gatherings. A film dealing with events leading up to the outbreak of the war was screened by the Army Educational Welfare Service. The meeting agreed to assist with the gala to be held in Victoria Street on October 13 in aid of the combined services memorial club campaign.
