PREFABRICATED ROOMS
HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL The headmaster, Mr H. D. Tait, in his report to the meeting of the board of governors of the Hamilton High School yesterday, said that a start had been made with the erection of six prefabricated class-rooms and they would be ready for use next year. Rooms one and two would then become the art room, and rooms 14 and 15 a physics laboratory. A bulldozer had been used to fill in the trenches dug in the school grounds as air r raid precautions. The playing area, said Mr Tait, was in an unsatisfactory state again and in many places the ground was sinking. This was particularly marked near the practice wickets and he recommended that a bulldozer be employed to lower an area adjacent to them.
Four military huts had been erected at the school and would be used for storing military gear. The secretary, Mr R. English, reported that the sum of £144 had been authorised by the department in connection with the Hamilton East property. Mr H. M. Hammond presided and there were also present Mrs W. J. Earle, Messrs J. Primrose, R. McCaw and J. R. Fitz Gerald. Apologies were received from Messrs C. L. Mac Diarmid and J. H. Terry.
