BRITAIN AND AMERICA

DIFFERENCE OVER ARGENTINA LONDON. Sept. 20 Britain has made it clear that she requires Argentine meat to feed the armed forces and civilians now and In connection with European reconstruction, because the Dominions cannot nearly meet her requirements.

Britain accordingly will not subscribe to a complete break with Argentina, and although not renewing her meat agreement lor a year has decided to continue it on a day-to-day basis.

Differences thus exist in British and American policy. Americans, particularly Mr Cordell Hull, the Secretary of State, condemn the Argentine Governme it as pro-Fas-cist. The British Foreign Office agrees with America in disliking the Argentine regime, but sees it more as a palace revolution than a real threat.
