COUNCIL PROTEST

ROADS AS TRAINING TRACKS Complaint was made at a Waipa County Council meeting yesterday that county roads near Hamilton were being seriously damaged by racehorses undergoing preparation for galloping and trotting being exercised or trained on sand roads. Ruffill’s Road, Te Rapa, was particularly mentioned. Mr F. L. Onion said he had seen horses being galloped along that road that morning. Mr R. J. Church said Pukete Road was being similarly damaged. He estimated that about 30 horses were regularly being exercised on that thoroughfare. The engineer was instructed to communicate. with the owners, associations of owners, breeders and trainers, with an intimation that prosecutions would be instituted if the offence continued.
