HOME SERVICEMEN
HAMILTON BRANCH FORMED A branch of the New Zealand Home Servicemen's Association was formed in Hamilton last night at a meeting numbering more than 50. Mr E. A. Butt presided. Rules were approved and adopted. . It was decided to have the branch incorporated and affiliated with the Dominion Association, and to co-operate with the Returned Services Association in every way possible. Mr J. C. Wright, who attended the Dominion conference in Wellington recently, gave an account of the deliberations at the conference. It was stated that branches were being formed at Cambridge and Te Awamutu and probably in several other nearby centres; also that amity had been reached between the Auckland and Wellington organisations, which were the inaugurators of the movement for a Dominion-wide body. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr J. Colin Taylor; vicepresident, Mr E. A. Butt; treasurer, Mr J. F. Frew; executive, Messrs J. Maxfield, W. J. Knipe. R. H. Scott. J. C. Wright, A. N. Hayes. W. R. Daysh, B. T. Barnett, L. Chitty, A. E. McCracken, G. Wood, J. Mackie, G. P. Zohrab, J. H. Searle, F. R. Booth, with power to add. The annual subscription was fixed at 10s for men and 5s for women, with honorary members admitted at 2s 6d. Answering a question, the'chairman said the rules provided that an R.S.A. member could also be a member of the Home Servicemen’s Association, but no man eligible for membership of the R.S A couid be a full member of the Home Servicemen’s Association alone. Appreciation was recorded of the cordial and practical help extended by the New Zealand Returned Services Association in forming the Home Servicemen's Association.
