MEETING WITH HITLER
AXIS PREMIERS CONFER JAPAN ASKED FOR HEIJ> (Received April 12, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON. April 11 Italian Fascist sources in Switzerland report that Mussolini is meeting Hitler at Berchtesgaden at a conference which is attended also by the Japanese Minister in Berlin, the Rumanian and Hungarian Premiers, Lavan, the quisling from Norway, Pavelic from Yugoslavia, and Dr. Hacha from Czecho-Slovakia. Der Bund, quoting a Chiasso report, says that Japan will be asked what immediate effective assistance she is able to offer Germany. The total mobilisation of ail manpower and industry throughout Axis Europe will be considered, also the possibility of the withdrawal of German troops from France, Norway, Italy. Croatia, Holland and Denmark, for the battlefront and their replacement by local militia.
