COMMENT ON RUNNING Otawa Lass was a hot favourite Tor the Solomons Handicap, and she pulled her supporters thro.ugh although she had nothing to spare in a blanket ftnLh with Silver Plane. surprise Moko made the early running and led at. the commencement of the final circuit Trom Otawa Lass, Sllrling Maid and Arabln. Along the back there was little alteration, surprise Moko leading into the straight from Sterling Maid, Arabln, Otawa Lass, Sliver Plane and High Pressure. In a good finish Otawa Lass did best to beat Silver Plane by a head, with the Improving High Pressure hair a length away. Arabin was a moderate fourth. Albert Tracey put up a pleasing performance to win the MacArthur Handicap, finishing on In the straight after being one of the leading Quartette to the turn. Gay Spark led past the stands the last titnp. from Painty Jew—l and Grpat. Shadow, and as they raced along the hack Dainty Jewel was just showing out from Great Shadow. Everest, and Allx rt Traeey. with several lengths M Gay spark, and a further interval to i.n.xl Brooklyn. Racing to the turn Caere was :><•! a great deal between Dainty Jow«*l. c.eat shadow. Albert Tracey and Everest, and trie 'issue resolved itself into a duel between this quartette. Albert Tr icy won well In the end-from Everest. wiM Dalniy Jewel third and Great Shadow Tourth. Sandiways Decisively sandtways, always handily placed, fame awav in the straight to win the Rarroclough Handicap, his winning nio’-jrln at the end being two lengths (mm Sir volo, who had trailed him into the straight. Sandiways and King Country wpre prominent In the early stages from Diamond Trust and Wee Napoleon. Diamond Trust and Sandiways being practically on lerms passing the stands Trom Mirage, King Country and Dancing Pirate. There was no alteration along the back, Sandiways leading into the straight, from Sir Volo, Rluestock and Diamond Trust. Sandiways won well at the end, coming through to hold oil Sir Volo by two lengths with a similar distance to Katoomba. Rluestock faded into Tourtli. The Victory Handicap provided the most thrilling finish or the day when ihe gallant lit lie sprinter, Alcazar, fought on courageously to take a hall-head decision over Betty Boop .Adams Memorial winner) and Channel Fleet. Channel Fleet altempled an end to end success and with a round to go was followed by Alcazar, who was always within striking distance, Betty Boop. Paurauri. Philarlo and Ncutraliiv. They raced in that order along the back, across ihe top, and al Ihe home turn channel Fleet still held sway from Alcazar and Neutrality, with Betty Boop within striking distance. It was anyone’s race over the last 100 yards and Alcazar though hotly challenged by Betty Boop, got ihe verdict oy hair a head from the latter, with Channel Fleet only a neck away. Bay .Machine, who looked likely at the turn, was right up fourth. Totalisator Returns
