ATTACKS BV AMERICANS
CHUNGKING, April 10
American planes carried out three new raids on Japanese-occupied areas in China.
General Stilwell’s communique reports that Mitchells raided Yuikan, in southern Hainan, damaging a 1000-ton freighter and setting fire to several smaller vessels. Liberators bombed the railyards at Hanoi. Mitchells made a night raid on Weinhowtao, on the Tonkin Gulf. Mitchells destroyed a 1200-ton Japanese tanker off Hainan Island and shot down four fighter interceptors.
