ALLIED FORCE CLOSING IN LONDON, Sept. 23 Forty Japanese aeroplanes were shot down soon after the Allied landng six miles north of Finschhafen. Three Allied machines were lost. Japanese resistance is weakening as the Allied forces close in on Finschhafen.
