Late Payment of Rates
It is about time we took a deflate stand in respect of these applications for remission of rates penalties for late payment," said Mr P. E. Dingle at yesterday's meeting of the Waikato County Council, “People have had six months in which to pay. Other people who are forgetful pav the penalty, but they take good care next time to make payment before the final day. At times genuine cases come before the council but the ratepayer in question has previously applied for and been granted the concession." With some reluctance the council granted the request for remission of the penalty, but the clerk is to warn the offender that "it must not occur again.”
