COMPENSATION CASE
In the Compensation Court at Auckland Mr Justice O’Regan heard a claim for £IOOO compensation and £35 funeral ex- ; penses on behalf of the three infant children of the late Kelvin William Joseph i Coppell, of Huntly, miner (Mr C. J. O’Regan). The claim was made against the employer. Taupiri Coalmines. Limited I (Mr Horej. It was admited by both parties that Coppell died of heart failure on May j 27 last in the Rotowaro coal mine immediately after ascending a grade in the workI ings. For the plaintiff it was contended j that the death was legally due to an acI cident arising out of and in the course of 1 Coppell’s employment, but the defence | held that it was due to natural causes and j did not arise by accident. The Court adjourned the case lor further evidence.
