TRIALS FOR TE AROHA

GAY LALLY OVER SIX | GAY ROSETTE SHAPES WELL j (By ‘‘Martian’’) The going on the course proper. 33ft. out from the rails, was hard and fast at Te Rapa this morning when candidates for the Te Aroha Jockey Club's meeting on .Saturday were given their final trials. Several useful efforts were recorded, the best being those of Gay Lally over six furlongs and Gay Rosette over a round. Foxsen (Long) and Sporting Sister (McKenzie) were associated over an easy seven furlongs but were not after time, similar work being allotted Marble Fox (Long) and Royal Jay (C. B. Goulsbro) over five furlongs. There was little between Malo (Long) and The Alibi (Goulsbro) at the end of half-a-mile in 525. Sporting Style (McKenzie), assisted over the first half-mile by Miss Cardine ! (Goulsbro) in 53»25, ran to the six-furlong peg in 1.22> 2 . Shepherd Queen (Greek Shepherd—Miss Homer) sprinted two furlongs down the back in 26. She is making good progress.

The best round of the morning was that of Gay Rosette (Ensor), who finished clear of Marinotr (Brown). Cappy (Goulsbro) and Laughing Fox (Hain) in 2.3. Gay Rosette has taken no harm from exertions at the Waikato meeting and will probably have her next outing at the Franklin meeting here next week. A Smart Trial

Gay Lally (Brown) was doing better than Penzance (Bond) at the end of six furlongs, which they traversed in 1.20 3-5. They were assisted over the initial halfmile by Tudor Rose (Coon) in 495. Gay Lally, who won at his first up at Te Rapa on Saturday, is looking a picture of con--1 dition and will have an opportunity to j extend his account at Te Aroha this i week.

Acrobat (Sinton) and Gem Tray (Coon) got to the end of five furlongs in 1.7.

General Riske (Coon) finished clear of Game Pit (Sinton) over a round in 2.4 1-5.

Bri£ht Lady (M. Caddy) and Miss Wheriko (R. Caddy) negotiated five furlongs in 1.8 2-5.

Rich Elood (Corbett) and Myain (McKenzie) ran to the half-mile peg in 51 3-ss. Stylishman—Bramble Song

On the No. 1 grass Stylishman (Brown) and Eramble Song (Haim negotiated six furlongs in 1.18*2- The only other gallop on this track was that of Gentry and Lady Dink, who got to the end of half-a-mile in 51 4-ss, both being under restraint.

Black Musk (Hain) was schooled over three hurdles and gave a sound display while Thakoor (Coon) also shaped well in a similar essay. Riding engagements for the Te Aroha meeting include.—
