FOR MISS P. SIMPSON Mesdames H. E. Schofield, president, C. E. Barry, vice-president, and Stubbing, secretary, of the Matamata branch of the Red Cross Society, were the organisers of an afternoon for Miss Pat Simpson, recently, in the Fire Bigade Hall, in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr M. Madill. Games and competitions were enjoyed and songs were rendered by Mrs Crabb and Mrs D. R. Abernethy. The guest-of-honour, who wore a floral frock and a teal coat and hat, was presented with a pair of crystal sweet dishes from members of the Red Cross Society. Miss Simpson suitably replied. Mesdames T. R. Bluck and J. Simpson and Miss D. Cranswick were hostesses at a gift afternoon for Miss P. Simpson, prior to her marriage to Mr M. Madill. The afternoon, which was held at the home of Mrs T. R. Bluck, was spent in competitions and musical items, and Miss Simpson received a beautiful selection of gifts, together with the good wishes of those present. A kitchen evening, held in Loveridge’s Tea Rooms recently for Miss P. Simpson and Mr M. Madill, was arranged by Mrs J. Shaw and Misses Margaret Beverley and Myra Weir. The guest-of-honour wore gold satin. Mrs Shaw was wearing shell pink georgette, Miss Beverley multi-coloured silk, and Miss Weir cyclamen taffeta. Mr M. Swapp was Master of Ceremonies, and dancing was enjoyed. Mr C. Hemsley called upon Miss Simpson to open the many gift parcels and to accept the good wishes of all present.
