THREE SOLDIERS SENTENCED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday Sentences on three soldiers charged before district courts-martial at Trentham this week with desertion were promulgated today. These were as follows:—Private Carlyle Pardoe, Second N.Z.E.F., 50 days’ detention for absence without lesiVe, to which category the charge of desertion was reduced by the Court; Private Gordon Smith Wilkinson, Second N.Z.E.F., desertion, 90 days’ detention; Private Ronald Edward Jukes, Second N.Z.E.F., desertion, 90 days’ detention. PREMIER’S RETURN PARTY AT AUCKLAND CIVIC RECEPTION TONIGHT (By Telegraph.—-Press Association) AUCKLAND. Saturday “ All I can say is that I am glad that Mr Fraser is returning,” said the Hon. W. Nash, after his arrival on the Limited express today to meet the Prime Minister, who is returning by Clipper at 2.30 p.m. . “The present session has been strenuous but everyone has been most courteous and kind. I thank them.” Included in Mr Nash’s party were Mrs Fraser, Mrs Berendsen, whose husband is accompanying Mr Fraser, Mrs Kemp, a daughter of Mi and Mrs Fraser and Mrs Turner, wife of Mr B. Turner, the Hon. F. Langstone’s secretary. Other passengers to meet Mr Fraser included Wing-Commandei Bevar., representing the GovernorGeneral arid Sir Harry Batterbee, representing the British Government. A civic reception will be tendered Mr Fraser tonight and Messrs Fraser and Nash will leave for Wellington on tomorrow night’s Limited. OPPOSITION MESSAGE WELLINGTON, Friday Before the House of Representatives rose this afternoon the Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, asked the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. W. Nash, to convey a message of felicitation to the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, on his arrival at Auckland tomorrow after his visit abroad. Mr Nash said he would be very glad to do as Mr Holland requested and he felt sure the Prime Minister would appreciate the kind thought

expressed.
