NIGHT OF HEAVY RAIN

OVER AN INCH RECORDED With heavy rain setting in last night and continuing this morning, over an inch of rain was recorded in Hamilton for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Yesterday morning was clear and cold, but later the sky became clouded and conditions bleak and unpleasant. The rain set in lightly during the evening, but it was not until later that the heavy showers fell. At 9 a.m. the gauge showed 1.11 in. for the 24 hours. The barometer this morning stood at 29.55in. and was falling, giving indications of further unsettled weather during the week-end.
