MOTHER’S DAY

ST. PAUL’S LADIES’ GUILD The St. Paul’s Ladies’ Guild celebrated its annual mothers’ day meeting recently, when the parlour had been beautifully decorated with vases of chrysanthemums. Mrs D. Bradle3 r , president, welcomed the very large gathering of mothers, the oldest being Mrs Pheasant, aged 92. She and the following, whose ages range between 70 and 85, were presented with bouquets by Mrs B. Williams:— Mesdames Pope, Melville, Reid, Crook, Robinson, Ashby, Hewetson, Marriott, Davey and Watkins. After the serving of afternoon tea, Mrs Wood sang two solos, “Mother Machree,” and “Smilin’ Through.” Mrs James playing the accompaniments.

The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs W. Gatman, who held the attention of all with a very inspiring address on “Home life and its menial tasks.” .
