OBITUARY
MRS I. M. C. JONES, J.P. PROMINENT SOCIAL WORKER The death has occurred of Mrs Ine Marie Christina Jones, J.P., of Fowler’s Avenue, Hamilton. Mrs Jones was a prominent figure foi many years in religious and social circles of the town. Born at Kobehove, Denmark, in 1868, Mrs Jones emigrated with her parents to New Zealand seven years later, settling at Waitahuna, Otago. In 1890 she came to live in Hamilton, where in 1899 she married Mr James May Jones, who died in 1917. Mrs Jones was prominent in Red Cross activities during the last war, and for several years she was a member of the National Council of Women. For many years she was an enthusiastic worker in the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, being a past president of the Waikato and Hamilton branches. In addition she was one of the oldest members of St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Mrs Jones was appointed a justice of the peace some years ago.
A daughter, Mrs M. James, of Claudelands, survives Mrs Jones, and there are two grandchildren.
