HOSPITAL LEVIES
RISE IN NORTH CANTERBURY (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday An increase of approximately 30 j per cent in rates levied on local auj thorities was approved at a meeting j jof the North Canterbury Hospital j Board, at which a budget of £412,000 was adopted. It was claimed that in ‘ spite of the sharp rise the board’s : rate would still compare favourably j with those of other boards. The total i levy cm local bodies will be £124,002 compared with £95.097 received last i year, and the subsidy to be received from the Government is £131,754, compared with £80,009.
