TE RAPA TRACKS

TRIALS FOR PUKEKOHE JOSETTE’S SMART HALF ESTRO HITS OUT (By “ Martian ”) The going on the No. 1 grass was in good order for galloping at Te Rapa this morning when the final gallops for the Franklin Racing Club’s Winter meeting at Pukekohe on Saturday took place under ideal weather conditions. Several smart efforts were recorded, the best being those of Estro, Foxsen, Laughing Fox, Josette and Evans Head over sprint distances and Gay Rosette and Acreman over a round. Vaalsmac (Brown) and Aquest (Meynell) were associated over half-a-mile in 50s. the initial three furlongs being cut out in 36$ s. Estro (Goulsbro), accompanied over the first half-mile by Trilliarch (Brown), got to the end of six furlongs in 1.16. The first three furlongs occupied 365, the half-mile 49 2-5 s and the five furlongs in 1.25. Estro accomplished her task in pleasing style and is not without prospects in the Pukekawa Hack at Pukekohe this week. Raceline (Coon) ran once round in 2.7 4-5, finishing resolutely. A Solid Effort A solid effort over a round was credited to Acreman (Ensor) and Gay Rosette (Goulsbro), who finished clear of Joy Vaals - (Haiti) in 1.535, which was the best of the morning pver the distance. They ran their first half-mile in 50|s and were doing their work well at the end. Cappy (O. Mclnally) was clear of Mio Generale in completing a task in 1.575. Donegal (McKenzie) and Sun Boy ; traversed a circuit ih 1.595. j The best six furlongs of the mornj ing was that of Foxsen (McKenzie) and Laughing Fox (Hain), who traversed the distance in 1.15 4-5, the first half-mile in 50s. Wildore (Goulsbro) and Ureklaw (Long), picked up by Gay Opal (Brown) at the three furlong peg, hit out over a round, Wildore finishing a shade in front in 1.56. It will not be on the score of condition if Wildore fails to give of his best at Pukekohe. Ureklaw Schooled Prior to working over a round, Ureklaw (Muir) was schooled over the steeplechase double in front ox the stands and negotiated his task satisfactorily.
