WEAK STOMACH
PLEA BY RESERVIST BOUGHT OWN FOOD IN CAMP (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Thursday Stating that he could not subsist on Army rations because he ate nothing but wholemeal, milk and water, James Richard Walker, bricklayer, appealed against service on the ground of hardship before the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board. “I see you have been passed fit,” said the chairman, Mr C. R. Orr Walker. “Did you tell the doctors you could not eat Army food?” “Not exactly,” sai dthe reservist, “but j told them I was very weak in that respect.” He had already served three months in territorial camp. “How did you get on?*’ asked the chairman. Appellant: I bought my own food. I could not eat Army rations. It is impossible for me to live on such food. “Well, the medical men will deal with that when you are in camp,” said the chairman. “If your stomach proves too weak you will be put out of camp.” The appeal was dismissed.
