CHURCH ARMY WORK
MR W. J. HAMFTON-REYNOLDS (Ry Telegraph.—Special to Time.*) AUCKLAND, Monday Commissioned with the rank of captain in the Church Army, Mr W. J. Hampton-Reynolds was yesterday enrolled at Church Army headquarters in Auckland for work in the territorial camps, and presented with his papers of appointment by Captain R. S. Banyard, director of the Church Army in New Zealand. A special chapel service was conducted by the Rev. G. E. Moreton, as chaplain.
Mr Reynolds’ first appointment will be in charge of the Church Army marquee, which will be opened at the Epsom camp next week. Two similar appointments will be made in the southern areas, in anticipation of the opening of the new Waiouru camp early in October. An active lay member in Anglican church work in Auckland for a number of years, and a member of the executive of the Diocesan Churchmen's Association, Mr Reynolds has held office in All Saints’ and St. Barnabas Churches. Also well known in journalistic circles, he was for many years a member of the staff of the Auckland Star, and was previously in Hamilton.
