MENACE TO EGYPT
THREATS BY ITALIANS CRITICISM OF BRITAIN ALLEGED DESPOTIC VIOLENCE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) (Received August 24, 12.15 p.m.) ROME, August 23 The Stefani Agency stated that it the Cairo report is correct, that an Egyptian mobile division has taken up position beside British troops in order to repel an Italian invasion, Italy cannot remain indifferent. The Italian attitude toward Egypt has already been fixed. Italy does not intend to attack Egypt but solely British troops found on Egyptian territory. Italy knows very well that if Egypt were not dominated by Britain’s despotic violence her attitude toward Italy would be different, but if Egypt decides to make common cause with Britain and proceeds to action against Italy that will alter the present state of affairs and Italy will give the necessary reply.
