Copy right) LONDON, August 23 A message from Los Angeles says that what is claimed to be the fastest military aeroplane in the world, a new interceptor aircraft, has been “unveiled” by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. It is disclosed that the United States Army has ordered large numbers and that Britain has contracted for 60,000,000 dollars’ worth of the new machines. The aircraft is a twin-engined pursuit plane, carrying a one-pound rapid-fire cannon and five machineguns. An experimental model last year attained a speed of 460 miles an hour. Army experts are delighted with it. The British Broadcasting Corporation says that 800 new fighters, claimed to be the fastest in the world, have been ordered by Britain from the United States. They will cost £15,000,000. The fighters, a product of the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, are called P3B’s and their speed is claimed to be 500 miles an hour. The machines have a range
