PAGEANT OF EMPIRE
SPECTACLE IN HAMILTON START OF REHEARSALS Rehearsals for the Pageant of Empire to be staged in Hamilton about the end of October commenced this week, under the direction of Miss Phyllis Torpy. All stages of Britain’s history will be presented, and the production should be very inspiring in these times when so much for which Britain stands is threatened by the Nazi and Fascist hordes. Another rehearsal will be held on Tuesday night, and new members would be welcomed, for it is hoped to make the pageant as spectacular as possible. Very satisfactory financial arrangements have been made by the organising committee and it is probable that the organisation formed to produce the pageant will be kept in being for the duration of the war for the production of other spectacles to benefit the patriotic funds.
