AMERICAN JOURNALISTS

MESSAGE TO AUSTRALIA RECIPROCAL RIGHTS URGED NEW WORLD POWER (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) CANBERRA, Aug. 23 The Prime Minister, Mr R. G. Menzies, received a farewell message from the visiting American journalists, who are flying to Darwin, en route to the Dutch East Indies. The message expresses to the Commonwealth Government a deep sense of appreciation and profound gratitude for the generous hospitality, also the friendly interest shown in their visit. The visitors, who left Brisbane today, are all keen that Australia should grant reciprocal rights to America to establish an air base in Australia. They declared that they see Australia as the foundation of a new world power, affording the closest bonds in outlook and linking the peoples of America, Canada and Australia.
