SCHOOLBOY FOOTBALLERS PLAY-OFF IN ONE SECTION (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Thursday The A section in the Roller Mills Shield primary schools Rugby tournament was won to-day by Auckland North, which beat Auckland East comfortably. The team has not had a point scored against it. Thames Valley and Auckland Central, the leaders in B section, drew, necessitating a play-off tomorrow to decide which side will meet Auckland North in the final. Of the other games played yesterday, Waikato A proved too strong for South Auckland, while Waikato Colts registered its first win at the expense of Waipa. The play-off between Auckland Central and Thames Valley will take place on the No. 1 ground at Eden Park at 3 p.m. to-morrow. A friendly game between Auckland North and Waikato A, holder of the shield, will be staged on No. 2 ground at the same time. Auckland North will meet the winner of B section at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday on the Eden Park Oval. Following are the points scored by the various teams at the conclusion of the third round: A section: Auckland North, 6; Waikato A, 4; Auckland East 2; South Auckland, 0. B section: Thames Valley, 5; Auckland Central, 5; Waikato Colts, 2; Waipa, 0. Results of yesterday* s matches A Section.—Auckland North. 13 (tries by Matheson and McCarthy, Coleman converting both and kicking a penalty goal) beat Auckland East, 0; Waikato A, 9 (tries by Shankshaft, O’Brien and Waite) beat South Auckland, 0. B Section.—Thames -Valley, 3 (penalty goal by Bax) drew with Auckland Central, 3 (try by Bonnie.); Waikato Colts, 20 (tries by Drower, Woods, Goodall and Cochrane, Kelly converting one and kicking two penalty goals) beat Waipa, 5 (try by Wynyard, Parish converting).
