PEACE CUP RUGBY
FIXTURE FOR HAMILTON GAME WITH MORRINSVILLE PROSPECTS FOR THE MATCH Hamilton’s first representative Rugby match of the season will be played tomorrow at Rugby Park when the team will meet the Morrinsville representatives in an elimination game for the Peace Cup. This is the first season for five years that a Hamilton team has competed in the Peace Cup and considerable interest among Rugby supporters has been aroused by the re-entry of Hamilton into this championship. As the Hamilton team has not played this season little can be said of its form. The backs, however, appear likely to prove more than a match for the Morrinsville combination provided they are well fed with the ball. The selector’s choice of Aherne for one wing, when B. Paterson was available, seems unwarranted, especially as the latter player gave a good account of himself under the conditions in the Waikato-Auck-land game a fortnight ago. Task for the Forwards Otherwise, the backs should perform splendidly. Few will doubt E. R. Houghton’s ability to serve them with the ball if the forwards can secure the advantage in the scrums. If there is any marked weakness in the Hamilton fifteen it is most likely to be in the forwards, where Morrinsville may be expected to field a fairly strong division. A better Hamilton pack could have been chosen. Those who have secured a game, therefore, will have to prove their ability and make every effort to ensure a rapid service to the Hamilton backs from scrums and line-outs alike. On that, victory will depend. The Hamilton team is as follows: Fullback: W. Brighouse (City). Threequarters: C. Perkins (City), J. Everest (Frankton), R. Aherne (Frankton). Five-eighths: R. Everest (Frankton), L. G. C. Reece (Frankton). Halfback: E. R. Houghton (Technical Old Boys). Back Row: T. Bremer (Old Boys). Middle Row: C. Satherley (Frankton), O. Barr (City), JM. J. Johnson (City), A. Maclean (Old Boys). Front Row: J. Dick (Frankton), W. Bowler (Frankton), W. Keen (City).
Reserves.—Backs: B. Paterson (Old Boys), R. Wilkins (Frankton). Forwards: O. Elliott (Frankton), J. Hills (Technical Old Boys).
