Knudsen said the air craft ,ry is co-operating 100 per cent, e defence programme, but the die industry is lagging. WASHINGTON, August 21 Five of the largest aircraft companies have issued a joint statement declaring that airplane manufacturers have offered, and will continue to give, the Government every resource and facility at their command in the interest of national defence. They are ready to build airplanes first and discuss profits afterwards. They added that the industry recently spent over 100,000,000 dollars on materials for future use, and contracted for over 5,000,000 worth of J additional plant facilities. There are 21,000 employees. Members of the Cabinet and chiefs of the armed services are conferring, it is believed concerning the availability of destroyers to Britain. A Statement is expected at any moment.
