HELD IMPOSSIBLE

CARTAGE SCHEDULE WAITOMO DISSATISFACTION SUPPORT FOR USERS (Special to Times) TE KUITI, Tuesday That the Transport Authorities’ schedules of rates for the South Auckland area was an impossible one was the opinion of the Waitomo County Council after reviewing the schedule. The council endorsed the action of the users’ committee in appealing to the Minister to ask that a properly-constituted judicial body be set up to consider the basis upon which price fixation, if it had to come, should be made. Dissatisfaction was expressed at the fact that special high rates were fixed for the three sheep counties, Waitomo, Kawhia and Raglan. During the discussion, Mr L. Laurenson, a carrier, said that, while manure carting rates did not show a great variation from the prices operating under agreement at present in Waitomo, the carrying of chopper pigs from Piopio to Waitara, now taken at 4s 6d a head, would cost 13s 3d.
