CLAIMS BY GERMANY
BRITISH DEFENCES PENETRATED INTENDED TARGETS BOMBED (Official Wireless) (Received August 14, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, August 13 The German news agency claims that German planes this morning penetrated the defences and bombed the intended targets. It alleges that the British have lost a large number of fighters. Hcinkel bombers sank two patrol ships off Goodwin Sands, west of Deal, which had fired on reconnaissance planes.
