The Germans have begun boring on the Yugoslav-Hungarian border. Russia has inaugurated a widespread aerial search, using a new magnetic device in aeroplanes. The Syrian authorities have announced that petroleum fields of very great importance, and possibly capable of equalling the yield of the Mosul oilfields, have been discovered in north Syria, which is under French mandate. MOSCOW, April 6 Russia geologists have discovered seven large diamond fields in the Sverdlov region of the Ural mountains, and according to the newspaper Industria engineers are being rushed to survey the fields.
The convention of the American Socialist Party adopted its traditional anti-war and non-intervention resolutions, but a minority favoured the United States extending economic and non-military aid to the Allies because of their anti-Hitler objective.
