SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON

ST. AID AN’S GARDEN PARTY STALLS WELL PATRONISED No more suitable place could have been chosen for the St. Aidan’s garden party held on Saturday than Parana Park, which assumed an air of great activity and merry-making, from early in the morning when the buyers at the popular old clothes stall started to arrive, until the late afternoon, when the depleted and, in some cases, completely denuded state of the stalls, proclaimed the happy day at an end. Small tables attractively arranged under the lovely old trees proved a very tempting inducement for the patrons to sample the excellent afternoon tea, after their round of the many heavily-laden and varied stalls. The pleasure of the afternoon was considerably enhanced by the presence of the Hamilton Caledonian Society’s Pipe Band under

j the control of Drum Major C. Ross and Pipe Major S. Clothier. Many attractions, such as races, and competitions, had been arranged for the children, although, for many mothers, the highlight of the function was the baby-show, in which there were many bohny entrants. Much credit is due to the organisers of the garden party, Mrs H. C. Ross and Mr E. Trevena, and the secretary, Mr E. A. Butt, and to the many willing helpers, whose work materially contributed to the satisfactory financial result of approximately £BO.
