COLLISION IN HARBOUR

SYDNEY COURT OF INQUIRY DRAMATIC RE-OPENING (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) SYDNEY, April 6 The marine Court of Inquiry into the collision of a Blue Star liner and ’ a Union Company freighter in Sydney Harbour was re-opened yesterday i somewhat dramatically, upon a re- I quest by Mr Windeyer, K.C., who is appearing for the Blue Star Line. Evidence was given to the effect that while grappling for a body near the Harbour Bridge, David Miller recovered a 10 or 12in hawser, and Mr Windeyer suggested that the hawser belonged to the Union Company’s freighter, which was badly damaged, also that it was being held down by the freighter’s anchor. Mr Evans, appearing for the Union Company, said he would not deny that the hawser belonged to the Union Company’s freighter. He argued that it was not important whether the anchor was within 100 feet of Miller’s Point, as there was no evidence when it fell off the ship. He claimed that the finding of the hawser proved nothing. The inquiry was further adjourned until next Thursday.
