Aged Maori’s Death A link with the Maori War was severed yesterday with the death of Mr Ake Ake Omahura, aged 94, one of the last remaining Maoris who took part in the memorable engagement of Te Ngutu-o-Te-Manu, stales a Hawera message. Mr Omahura carried a bullet in his arm until his death. He received this while fighting on behalf of Titokowaru at Pungarehu. A devout follower of Tetohiti, he joined the Titokowarua forces as a youth and remained with the leader until the end of the campaign.
