ISLANDS CRUISE
VICE-REGAL EXPERIENCES LADY GALWAY’S COURAGE (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Friday. At all the 17 Islands visited by Viscount Galway on Ii.M.S. Achilles, the native leaders emphatically assured the Governor-General of their loyalty to the King. Everywhere keen military training was in evidence, efficient squads of militia being in training. His Excellency promised to convey to the King the impressions uf what he had seen of the islanders’ loyalty. Everybody aboard the Achilles was impressed by the courage of Lady Galway in undertaking canoe trips through shark-infested waters to land on some of the Islands. At Danger Island the canoe was swung broadside by a huge breaker, and native boatmen had to jump overboard to right it. Apart from a wetting, Their Excellencies were unharmed.
