BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS
SOUTH AUCKLAND TOURNEY TITLES AT STAKE TODAY With over GO boxers from all parts of the Auckland Province taking part, tiie .Suulh Auckland Boxing Chamnioriships will be conducted, under the control of the Hamilton Boxing Association, in the Y.M.C.A., Bryce Street, Ih's afternoon ami tonight. Several of the competitors have entered for more than one event and the actual nominations number over 100. The preliminary stages of the tournament will commence at 1.50 p.m. and in the evening the final and semi-final stages will be decided. Some of tiie bouts already seen in Hamilton this season indicate that a considerable improvement lias taken place in tiie standard of amateur boxing in the Waikato and sparkling encounters can be expected tomorrow. Included in the nominations are a number of the leading amateurs from Auckland, Rotorua, the King Country and the Waikato. The professional welterweight contest between Vic Caltaux Auckland and Al. Stock (Hamilton) will take place in the Y.M.C.A. on September 2.
