PREVENTING VIOLENCE
POWERS UNDER NEW BILL SURVEILLANCE OF I.R.A. REGISTRATION OF SUSPECTS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON. July 19. The Prevention of Violence Bill gives the Home Secretary the same powers to deal with 1.8. A. suspects as with undesirable aliens including the right to refuse admittance. It empowers him to deport people who have lived in Britain l'or less than 20 years. He is also empowered to make suspects register and check the activities of those moving from one place to another. Suspects may be arrested without warrant. ■v The Bill applies to all members of the Empire, but will be restricted to I.R.A. suspects. Cabinet rejected the institution of a passport system for Eire and the proclamation of the I.R.A. as an illegal organisation as inadequate.
