A CRISIS.
KING CAROL’S RETURN. PREMIER OFFERS RESIGNATION. NOT ACCEPTED BY KING. Unl'ed Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, August 11. Owing to a censorship little news is available about the crisis which is suDDosed to be accountable for King Carox s sudden return on Monday to Bucharest after his European tour. The King instantly had an all-night conference with the Prime Minister, M. Tatarescu, who, according to the Vienna correspondent of the Daily Mail, offered his resignation, which His Majesty did not accept. The Cabinet’s position will be determined to-day. It is suggested that the Fascist Iron Guard has consoli-
dated its strength during King Carol's absence. Another story is that serious German bribery for military secrets involving members of the Government caused the King's return, while it is also suggested that the Iron Guard is trying to curb Madame Lupescu’s influence with King Carol, who favours stronger measures to check the Iron Guard.
Troops are reported to be standing by ready for an emergency.
