OPERATIVE COSTS SHOWN. HONIKIWI RETICULATION. (Special to Times.) TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. At yesterday’s meeting- or the Te Awamutu Electrical Power Board reference was made to the distribution costs and percentages published by another power board In the South Auckland district. The manager explained that all power boards were asked to supply the statistical date for use In national publicity. He gave Te Awamutu’s figures as: Bulk power 7s 9d in each £1 of revenue,, capital charges (interest and sinking rund) 7s sd. cost or distribution and service generally 9s sd. office salaries 9(1, other administration charges (including superannuation) Is 3d, and depreciation and new work sd; total 20s. Members expressed keen interest, and commented that there were few better percentages in the Dominion, among the country boards, and it was proor that small boards can he economically opera toil. Intimation was received from llie Undersecretary. Public Works Department, that the declaration adding part of the Wnilomo area had been proclaimed, a member commented that the settlers in the area, towards llonikiwi, would soon he asking for supply or power, hut the secretary-man-ager remarked that all the staff’s energies llie supply or power to the llarapepe district and neighbourhood. As soon as possible. however, the llonikiwi district would be attended to. The, Te Awamuiu members urged more street lights in the borough, contending that though it was a virtual pioneer of good street lighting tlie borough had developed so much in recent years that now it is not so well lighted as several other boroughs. A report is to be obtained. Reports showed that 16 per cent, or the hoard’s customers have electric stoves installed, and 35 per cent, have electric water-heaters. The revenue lor December was £27 10 5s iOd. being £317 higher than for December, 1035. notwithstanding the lower charges for lighting, heating, cooking and power. The power factor was shown as .87. The peak load for the present month occurred on February to, when 15 13 k.v.a. was recorded.
